Inside Anirudh’s Hukum Tour – A Fan’s Unforgettable Experience!

On the evening of August 18th, 2024, Sanskar Savvy contributing writer Sravya, one of Anirudh Ravichander’s biggest fans, had the chance to live out one of her dreams by attending the Hukum Tour live at Oakland Arena. The Sanskar Savvy special events team was thrilled to offer her this opportunity, which perfectly aligns with our mantra ‘Celebrate, Explore, Connect!’

Reflecting on her experience, Sravya said, “It was one of the best nights I’ve ever had!” Intrigued by her enthusiasm, we asked her to share what made this night so special. Read on for a first-person account of her adventure!

As soon as I entered the arena, my eyes were drawn to the elaborate stage setup, which featured massive screens and dynamic visuals under a canopy of colorful lighting. The band’s sophisticated arrangement and strategic placement enhanced the concert experience, creating an immersive atmosphere.

This year’s concert setup was even better than last year’s. The stage looked larger, the visuals were more advanced, and the dramatic lighting added so much to the performance. The light-up bracelets synced with the music, filling the crowd with waves of color that pulsed with each beat, making it an immersive experience.

From the moment I arrived, I felt the excitement in the air. Thousands of fans eager for the night’s performance filled the stadium with electricity. The crowd roared as Anirudh took the stage!

I really enjoyed the setlist this year, which flowed seamlessly and met every expectation the crowd might have had. Anirudh opened the night with solo favorites like “Idhazin Oram,” “Hukum,” and “Naa Ready.” The atmosphere shifted when Jonita joined him to perform some of Anirudh’s female solos, such as “Chuttamalle” and “Kaavaalaa.” The mood then softened with Anirudh’s solo set of slow songs featuring “Kanave Kanave” and “Hoyna Hoyna” before picking up again for a final energetic set of kuthu-dance tracks, including “Vaathi Coming,” “Dippam Dappam,” “Gang Leader,” and “Maari Thara Local.” DJ Gowtham kept the energy high between sets with mixes packed with Anirudh favorites, covering nearly his entire discography.

Even though I loved every song, “Arabic Kuthu” was the one I was waiting for. I knew the crowd would go wild when it finally played, and I was right. Every time Anirudh performs this song, the energy in the room shifts, and the crowd goes wild. Everyone knows the words and the dance moves, turning the crowd into one big, lively party. The lights and background shift, the effects ramp up, the dancers come front and center, and Anirudh nails every word. “Arabic Kuthu” is always a standout moment, and this time was no different.

A notable moment during the concert was when Anirudh paused his set of slow songs to engage with the audience. I felt the connection deepening as he shared his feelings and expressed his gratitude to all of us. When some fans requested Telugu songs, Anirudh playfully acknowledged the request, and the crowd erupted in applause, leading to one of the longest ovations of the night. It was surprising, considering that Anirudh is primarily a Tamil artist, yet about half the audience was Telugu-speaking. Showing respect for our diverse linguistic backgrounds, Anirudh performed one Telugu song and one Tamil song for the rest of the set, continuing to take requests. This moment highlighted his appreciation for the varied backgrounds of his audience. His energy was unwavering throughout the three-hour performance, as he even added extra songs after the set ended.
