Holi Hacks You Need to Know for a Hassle-Free Celebration
Holi is almost here! Whether you’re a first-timer or a Holi pro, a little preparation can make all the difference. These essential Holi hacks will help you enjoy the festival without worrying about stubborn colors, skin irritation, or messy cleanups. Celebrate, Explore, Connect! Let’s make this Holi colorful, fun, and worry-free!
1. Oil Up—Head to Toe
Before heading out, apply coconut or olive oil to your hair, face, hands, and arms. This creates a barrier that stops colors from sticking to your skin and makes cleanup much easier.
2. Wear Old, Comfortable Clothes
Choose long-sleeved tops and full-length bottoms to protect your skin from colors. Wear clothes you don’t mind staining, and go for white or light colors to make the powders pop!
3. Shield Your Eyes & Lips
Wear sunglasses to keep powder and water out of your eyes. Apply lip balm or petroleum jelly to protect your lips from drying out.
4. Remove Stubborn Colors the Easy Way
If colors won’t come off from your body, try ubtan! A mixture of chickpea flour, turmeric, and milk that one of our Sanskar Team members swears by. This simple trick breaks down stubborn stains, making them easy to wash away.
5. Protect Your Car
Before getting in your car, place old towels or sheets on the seats to stop colors from staining your upholstery. Keep wet wipes handy for a quick cleanup.
6. Stay Hydrated & Use Sunscreen
Drink plenty of water before and during the celebrations. Apply sunscreen to prevent sunburn and skin damage, especially if you’ll be outdoors for hours.
7. Keep Your Phone & Valuables Safe
Store your phone, wallet, and keys in a waterproof pouch or ziplock bag to keep them dry and color-free.
8. Use Natural Colors
Whenever possible, opt for herbal or organic colors. They’re safer for your skin and better for the environment.
