Short and McGurk Fire Up Unicorns for Another Big Win in Dallas

Short and McGurk Fire Up Unicorns for Another Big Win in Dallas

The San Francisco Unicorns continue their dominant run in Major League Cricket with another high-scoring performance, thanks to a blazing 91 from Matthew Short and a thrilling 64 from Jake Fraser McGurk. Their explosive efforts helped the Unicorns post a daunting 246 for 4, too much for MI New York to chase down at Grand Prairie Stadium.

Matthew Short Shines Again

Matthew Short is having a season to remember. Delivering back-to-back MVP-level performances, Short smashed 91 off just 43 balls at a strike rate over 210. His knock featured 14 boundaries and once again set the tone for a massive total. Whether it was timing, placement, or pure power, Short made batting look effortless.

Fraser McGurk and Hassan Khan Keep the Pressure On

Even without opener Finn Allen, the Unicorns showed no signs of slowing. Jake Fraser McGurk came in hot, hammering 7 sixes in a whirlwind 64 off 26 balls. His fireworks lit up the evening in Dallas. Then it was Hassan Khan’s turn. The rising American talent added 31 off just 9 balls to help push the total to 246, one of the highest of the season.

MI New York Start Fast but Stall

MI New York made a bold start with Quinton de Kock and Monank Patel blazing their way to 119 in just 9.3 overs. But once Patel fell to Liam Plunkett, the chase began to unravel. Nicholas Pooran struggled to find rhythm, and the San Francisco bowlers tightened their grip.

The pressure led to a collapse, with wickets falling steadily and only 3 boundaries scored over a five-over stretch. Quinton de Kock top scored with 70, but it wasn’t enough as MI New York closed on 199 for 6, 47 runs short.

Looking Ahead

The San Francisco Unicorns now sit comfortably at the top of the table. They will next face the Seattle Orcas, who are still searching for form this season. MI New York have a few days to reset before they take on the same opponent, hoping to get their campaign back on track this Friday.
