Unmukt Chand and Saif Badar Lead LA Knight Riders to First Win of the Season

The LA Knight Riders are officially on the board. After a slow start to the 2025 Cognizant Major League Cricket season, the team delivered a much-needed win in Match 12 by chasing down 177 to defeat the Seattle Orcas by six wickets with 10 balls remaining in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Unmukt Chand scored a composed 86, attacking the Orcas bowling with confidence and precision. He found momentum with a 20-run burst off Gerald Coetzee’s over and remained in control throughout. Saif Badar stepped up with a fearless 54, hitting four huge sixes and anchoring the chase alongside Chand. Their 139-run stand now ranks as the highest partnership for any wicket in LA Knight Riders history.

Andre Russell played a key role earlier in the game with a three-wicket haul that kept the Orcas in check. The Seattle side had solid starts from David Warner, Shayan Jahangir, and Aaron Jones, who top-scored with 44. Brief contributions from Hetmeyer and Raza helped lift the Orcas to a competitive 177 for six, but it was not enough to stop LA from cruising to the finish.
