The Wonderment Begins: A.R. Rahman Opens 2025 North American Tour with Unmatched Energy, Star Power, and Heart

A.R. Rahman’s “The Wonderment Tour” kicked off in spectacular fashion on Friday, July 18, at the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. The arena was completely packed, and the energy never dipped. Opening night confirmed what the numbers already showed: this is the top-selling North American tour by an Indian artist. With over 100,000 tickets sold before the first show, Rahman’s tour has already made history and is setting a new standard for global Indian music. Based on what we experienced on night one, it’s easy to see why fans across the continent are rushing to be part of it.Fans from across Canada and the U.S. gathered to watch Rahman perform live alongside an incredible cast of singers and musicians. Vancouver witnessed hit after hit as Rahman sang iconic tracks like “Muqabbla,” “Tere Bina,” “Choti Si Asha,” “Tu Hi Re,” “Agar Tum Saath Ho,” “Vande Mataram,” and many more. The audience sang every word with him. There were multiple goosebump moments where thousands of voices united, creating a chorus so powerful it moved people to tears.

The setup was massive. A huge LED wall lit up the arena with surreal visual effects, cinematic montages, and immersive backdrops that changed with every song. The live band delivered flawless sound and kept the pulse of the night going strong from start to finish.

A.R. Ameen Brings Heart to the Stage

One of the most emotional highlights of the night came from Rahman’s son, A.R. Ameen, who delivered stunning performances of tracks like “Bhogi Bhogi,” “Enna sona and “Nee Singam Dhan,” which he sang with his father.  His presence on stage was heartfelt, soulful, and full of promise.

Rising Star: Adithya Radhakrishnan

Another standout moment came from Adithya Radhakrishnan, whose powerful renditions of “Jumbalakka” with AR Rahman and “Hosana” had the entire arena cheering. We last saw Adithya on Anirudh’s full U.S. tour, where he wowed audiences with his versatility and voice. On opening night with Rahman, he proved once again that he’s a rising star to watch.

Star Vocalists from Across the Globe

The vocal lineup featured world-class talent. Shweta Mohan, a South Indian playback legend, brought precision and grace to every note. Shuba Vedula, known for her viral performances and American Idol debut, fired up the stage with charisma and vocal runs. Rakshita Suresh, featured in films like Ponniyin Selvan: Part Two and Mimi, captivated the audience with dynamic range.

Mayssa Karaa, a Grammy-nominated Lebanese American artist, performed songs with stunning depth and emotion. Zanai Bhosle, granddaughter of Asha Bhosle, brought youthful elegance and charm. Nakul Abhyankar and Nitesh Aher also delivered crowd-pleasing vocals, blending traditional and contemporary styles with ease.

The Musicians Behind the Magic

Rahman’s touring band featured top-tier global talent. Ranjit Barot, one of India’s most respected drummers and composers, drove the night with unmatched rhythm. Ashwin Srinivasan, a flautist and multi-instrumentalist, brought classical soul and international flair. Aleif Hamdan, guitarist from Southeast Asia, blended jazz, world, and rock effortlessly. Nilanjana Ghosh Dastidar held the groove with expert basslines, and Evelyn Soto, Colombian singer and percussionist, added bold rhythm and cross-cultural energy.
