Andre Fletcher’s Century and Karthik Gattepalli’s Dream Debut Power LA Knight Riders Past San Francisco Unicorns

Andre Fletcher smashed his second century of the Major League Cricket 2025 season, and Karthik Gattepalli announced his arrival with a sensational three-wicket debut as the Los Angeles Knight Riders defeated the San Francisco Unicorns by 11 runs in a high-scoring thriller at Broward County Stadium. The Knight Riders ended their season on a high, while the Unicorns will now play in the Eliminator after a late-season stumble.

Fletcher Hits Explosive Century as LA Posts 243

The Knight Riders came out swinging after being put in to bat. Alex Hales set the tone with early boundaries before Andre Fletcher took over. The West Indies opener blazed 118 off just 58 balls, hammering 10 fours and 8 sixes to lead LA to one of the highest totals in MLC 2025.

Sherfane Rutherford added to the fireworks with a quick 49 not out, pushing the team total to 243 for 3 in 19 overs. San Francisco’s bowling unit had no answers. Xavier Bartlett and Hassan Khan picked up a wicket each but conceded heavily. The Unicorns clearly missed the services of injured pacer Haris Rauf.

Gattepalli Makes T20 Debut Count with 3 Wickets

Chasing 244, San Francisco started poorly. Making his T20 debut, Karthik Gattepalli struck with his very first delivery, removing Unicorns captain Matthew Short. He dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk later in the same over and returned for a third wicket, finishing with 3 for 31 — one of the most impressive debut spells of the season.

Despite the early damage, the Unicorns fought back through Sanjay Krishnamurthi, who blasted 92 off 40 balls. Hammad Azam added 38 in the middle overs, and Xavier Bartlett contributed late fireworks.

Knight Riders Close Out Win as Unicorns Slip to Third

The Knight Riders struggled with fielding errors but sealed the win in the final over. Jason Holder dismissed Azam, and Shadley van Schalkwyk took the last two wickets on consecutive balls, bowling out the Unicorns for 233.

The loss marks the Unicorns’ third defeat in their last four matches after a six-match winning streak. They finish third in the standings and will now face MI New York in the Eliminator on July 9 at Grand Prairie Stadium.
