USA Cricket Cuts Ties With ACE Over Major League Cricket Dispute
In a dramatic shake-up for American cricket, USA Cricket (USAC) has terminated its commercial partnership with American Cricket Enterprises (ACE), the organization behind Major League Cricket (MLC) and Minor League Cricket (MiLC). The decision, announced on August 23, 2025, has sparked a public dispute between the two entities and raised concerns about the future of cricket in the United States.
Grounds for Termination
USAC cited repeated breaches by ACE in three critical areas:
- Financial obligations: Alleged failure to meet agreed funding commitments.
- Infrastructure development: Shortcomings in delivering promised facilities and resources.
- Governance and oversight: Concerns over ACE’s operational transparency and use of USAC’s intellectual property.
USAC Chairman Venu Pisike emphasized that ACE’s failure to uphold its responsibilities was jeopardizing the sport’s growth and long-term sustainability in the country.
ACE Pushes Back
ACE responded swiftly, calling the termination “unlawful” and “wrongful.” The organization defended its record, highlighting a $150 million investment since 2019 that included:
- Launching MLC and MiLC
- Building stadiums and training centers
- Supporting national teams and grassroots programs
ACE accused USAC of acting on “personal and political agendas” and urged the board to resign in favor of independent directors selected by the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC).
Governance Under Scrutiny
The ICC and USOPC have reportedly recommended a complete reset of the USAC board to ensure better oversight and alignment with international standards. ACE claims that USAC’s internal dysfunction is undermining cricket’s progress in the U.S.
What’s At Stake
The fallout threatens several key pillars of U.S. cricket:
- The upcoming 2025 Minor League Cricket season
- Development programs for men’s, women’s, and youth national teams
- Preparations for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where cricket is expected to be featured
Despite the termination, USAC has expressed willingness to renegotiate under new terms that better reflect its strategic goals. ACE, meanwhile, reiterated its commitment to U.S. cricket and vowed to protect its stakeholders and investments.
Looking Ahead
As the dust settles, the future of professional cricket in the United States hangs in the balance. With both sides entrenched in their positions, stakeholders and fans alike are watching closely to see whether reconciliation is possible, or whether this marks a turning point in the sport’s American journey.
