Legendary singer and composer Hariharan is set to bring his signature blend of soul, melody, and musical mastery to the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) this year. Ahead of his highly anticipated concert, the legendary artist reflected on what makes this performance meaningful, his long-standing band, and the energy that continues to drive his decades-long journey. Known for songs like “Tu Hi Re”, “Bahon Ke Darmiyan”, and “Roja Jaaneman”, Hariharan continues to carry the warmth of Indian music to audiences around the world.

A Night of Connection
“I hope every person in the audience walks away with a heart full of love and light,” Hariharan shares. “Music has a beautiful way of transcending boundaries and bringing us closer to each other, and to something greater than ourselves. If our evening together can offer that connection, even for a few moments, it will be truly fulfilling.”
Performing at NJPAC
Hariharan says performing in New Jersey always feels special. “We’ve performed in New Jersey before, and the warmth and passion of the audiences here always stay with me,” he says. “I know how deeply our diaspora connects with this music, and if through it we can light even a small diya in their hearts, I would consider that my blessing.”
The Musicians Behind the Magic
Hariharan will be joined by Soul India, his trusted musical family since 2001. “I’m proud to say I’m surrounded by some of the most talented musicians from India,” he says. “From Bijin and Saibu handling sound with such finesse, to Sanjoy on guitar, Sangeet on bass, Roy and Amit on keyboards, Shravan on drums, and Rupak on percussion, they’re all artists in their own right. Josy brings the soul on saxophone, and I’ll be joined by Chandrayee and Lavanya for some beautiful duets. And of course, my son Akshay brings a fresh energy and contemporary flair with his electronic interpretations of some of my classics.”
Revisiting the Classics
Hariharan has performed across the United States for nearly five decades, yet he says each tour feels new. “It’s become a kind of annual pilgrimage,” he reflects. “But every time feels new because we evolve: the music, the stories, the energy. This tour especially brings fresh arrangements and a few surprises.”
A Hint of What’s to Come
When asked about what songs fans can expect, the maestro smiles: “That would be like revealing the plot before the film releases! But I will say this, there will be something for every generation. And for those with a special request, feel free to message me on Instagram. Who knows? You might hear your favourite song live that night.”
A Journey Full of Memories
With a career spanning decades, Hariharan finds it difficult to choose one favorite concert moment. “Every concert leaves behind its own memory, its own rhythm in my heart,” he says. “Perhaps I’ll answer this question again at the end of this tour, with a fresh favorite from the U.S. Tour 2025. I have a feeling there will be many.”
