Artist Spotlight: Vikrant Massey

Massey began his career in television roles, debuting in Dhoom Machaao Dhoom in 2007. He gained popularity through his role in the popular TV show Balika Vadhu, which made him a household name.

Eventually, Massey left his television career to pursue his passion for film. He made his film debut in 2013 with Vikramaditya Motwane’s critically acclaimed period piece Lootera.

After appearing in supporting roles in big-budget films like Dil Dhadakne Do and Half Girlfriend, he earned his first leading role in 2017 through Konkona Sen Sharma’s independent drama A Death in the Gunj. His performance in this role was critically acclaimed and earned him a nomination for a Filmfare as Best Actor (Critics). Throughout his career, he has continued to play a mix of leading and supporting roles in successful movies such as Chhapaak and Half Girlfriend.

After entering the film world, he ventured into the digital space in 2018 with leading roles in the fan-favorite Mirzapur and the web series Broken But Beautiful, where he met his wife. He goes on to win an Indian Television Academy Award for his performance in the 2019 web series Criminal Justice. He also plays a part in the popular web series Made in Heaven.

He rose to prominence on OTT platforms with leading roles in projects like Cargo, Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, Ginny Weds Dolly, and Haseen Dilruba. In 2023, Vikrant Massey delivered a critically acclaimed and fan-favorite performance in 12th Fail, solidifying his status as a leading actor.

Massey has earned a reputation for unconventional and challenging roles, making him a versatile and respected actor. Throughout his career, he has cultivated a devoted fanbase and obtained a collection of well-deserved accolades, including a Filmfare Award for Best Actor in 12th Fail after nominations for A Death in the Gunj and Haseen Dilruba, though his fans would argue he merits even greater recognition.
