Faf du Plessis and Adam Milne Dominate as Texas Super Kings Crush Seattle Orcas

Texas Super Kings secured a commanding 51-run victory over the Seattle Orcas, powered by a brilliant knock from Faf du Plessis and a five-wicket haul from Adam Milne. The win not only capped off a strong showing at Broward County Stadium, but also pushed the Super Kings into the playoffs with confidence while leaving the Orcas teetering on the edge of elimination in the 2025 Major League Cricket season.

Du Plessis and Ranjane Set the Tone

After being sent in to bat, Texas Super Kings made full use of the surface despite earlier signs that it might slow down. Faf du Plessis continued his phenomenal form this season, scoring 91 off 52 balls with a blend of elegance and power. He received early support from Smit Patel, who set the tone with three boundaries in the opening over.

Though Texas lost two quick wickets, Shubham Ranjane joined du Plessis to steady the innings. Together, they punished the Orcas’ medium pace, especially Cameron Gannon, who conceded 28 runs in two overs. Du Plessis targeted the short boundary and spinners alike, including two massive sixes off Kyle Mayers, while Ranjane remained composed with 65 not out off 41 balls.

Their partnership lifted Texas to a competitive 188 for 4 in 20 overs — a total that applied serious pressure on a Seattle team fighting to stay alive in the playoff race.

Milne and the Spin Duo Seal the Victory

Seattle’s chase began with promise as David Warner and Kyle Mayers put up 25 runs in the first three overs. However, Texas made a smart tactical call by bringing in Donovan Ferreira early. His over went for just three runs and allowed Milne to follow with a game-changing spell.

Milne’s second over dismantled the top order, removing Warner and Shayan Jahangir in quick succession. From there, spin took over. Akeal Hosein and Noor Ahmad spun a web through the middle overs, each collecting two wickets and slowing the scoring significantly.

The turning point came when Hosein dismissed Shimron Hetmyer, denying the Orcas their most consistent finisher. With Hetmyer gone, Milne returned to clean up the tail, finishing with exceptional figures of 5 for 23. The Orcas were bowled out for 137, falling well short of their target.
